I’m so glad you’ve tuned in, and I want to begin by acknowledging something that I know many of us struggle with: doubt. Maybe you’re listening right now, and you find yourself wrestling with questions like, “If I’m saved by Jesus Christ, why do I still doubt? How do I know that I’m truly saved?”
Powerful Story for the Introduction:
Let me start today’s episode with a story. This story is about a man named Thomas. He grew up in a strong Christian home, was always active in church, and knew all the Bible stories. But as Thomas got older, doubts began to creep in. He struggled with sin, made mistakes, and found himself caught in the cycle of feeling unworthy of God’s love. One night, after a particularly difficult season of temptation and failure, he found himself on his knees, crying out to God, asking, “Am I really saved? How can I be saved if I keep messing up? Maybe I’m just not good enough. Maybe I’ve fallen too far.”
At that moment, Thomas remembered something his pastor had told him when he was younger: “Salvation is not about your perfection, but about Christ’s perfection for you.” Those words echoed in his mind as he opened his Bible. He turned to John 10:28-29, where Jesus says, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.” It hit him. Salvation isn’t about how good he was, it’s about the grip of Jesus that never lets go. In that moment, Thomas realized that his salvation wasn’t based on his performance; it was based on Jesus’ finished work on the cross.
But the doubts still lingered. “What if I sin again? What if I don’t live up to God’s standard?” But then he recalled 1 Peter 1:5: “You are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation...” The power wasn’t his. It was God’s.
And in that moment, Thomas experienced peace. It wasn’t a peace that came from knowing he had everything together. It was a peace that came from knowing that God was with him, that his salvation was secure, and that even when he stumbled, God’s grace would catch him.
I want to be honest with you: you’re not alone. Doubt can feel like a heavy cloud over our hearts, especially when we stumble and fall, when we sin, or when life just feels uncertain. It’s easy to wonder if we’re really saved, if we’ve messed up too much, or if God’s love really remains unshaken.
But I want to bring you some encouragement today. If you’ve placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you are secure in your salvation. Nothing—not your doubts, not your struggles—can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus. In fact, I’m about to walk you through some powerful biblical truths and practical steps that will help you overcome doubt and walk with confidence in your salvation.
